The International Folk Art Market (IFAM)
In July of 2019, Meridel Rubenstein, Jassim Al-Asadi and Zahra Souhail represented those Marsh Arab women who are continuing on and taking up the tradition of Mesopotamian embroidered wedding blankets. Below is a video, made by Meridel Rubenstein and Drew Lenihan, with the women of the marshes.
The craftswomen whose work was represented at IFAM include Salma Abed Damej, Naima Saheb Rathi, Faliha Hassan Al-Jabiry, Faliha Hussein Abbas, Zainab Kahdim Al-Taey, and Zained Kathim Hassan.
In addition, there are six beautiful, historic southern Iraqi rugs by Kameela Salman Dawood and Naima Saheb Rathi available for online viewing at this link. Serious collectors should direct any inquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org.
